Notes: New York-bred Effinex has a career record of 25 starts, 9 wins, 2 seconds, and 4 thirds with earnings of $3,047,950 as of September 15, 2016. They tried him on the Triple Crown Trail in 2014 with little success, then switched over to NY-bred races where he did a bit better but not spectacularly. In 2015, he started off at Aqueduct with an allowance win then a win in the Excelsior Stakes, before a bad race in the Brooklyn Invitational where he did not finish. Whatever his problem was then must not have been serious, as he came right back with a win in the Suburban Handicap. He came into the Breeders' Cup Classic off a 4th in the Woodward and a 3rd in the Jockey Club Gold Cup to finish 2nd to American Pharoah. He closed out the year with a win in the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs.
